Major Temples, Kamakhya

Kamakhya temple constellation consists of 10 major shrines and numerous smaller ones. Tradition has it that one should visit all these ten temples.

Many of these temples are hidden from the main road and receive only a handful of visitors. Use this page as a route map to these temples.

Dasha Maha Vidya (10 main temples)

1) Kamala and 2) Matangi  : These are situated inside the main temple(Kamakhya temple). In the inner sanctum there are two sections. The first 'shrine' is Kamala and second one is Matangi. It would be technically incorrect to call it a shrine because there no man made "idol". Instead the temple encloses a natural spring from which water comes out.
