Panamaram Jain temples: A photo blog
Panamaram is a non descript village in Wayanad district of Kerala. Its claim to fame are a set of ancient Jain temples. I visited both these temples in Dec-20. Both the Jain temples are located close to each other. beside coffee plantations I don't think the temples have a separate name or identity. Sadly, both the temples are in dilapidated condition. Apart from a board by the Archaeological Survey of India mentioning these are heritage monuments, nothing is mentioned about the history of these monuments.
Scaffoldings all over the temple. |
Both the temples are located quite close to each other. I asked a few locals for the directions to the second temple. One of the persons I spoke to identified himself as Jain. Below are pictures from the second temple.
